The Daffodil Summer 2026 Newsletter – Celebrating Life at Springdene Care Homes
The latest edition of The Daffodil brings together some of the memorable moments shared across Springdene Care Homes over recent months. From festive celebrations and cultural events to creative workshops, fundraising activities and special performances, the newsletter captures the warmth, friendship and person-centred care that make our homes such vibrant places to live.
Across Spring Lane Care Home, Spring Grove Care Home and Springview Care Home, residents, families and staff have enjoyed opportunities to laugh together, learn new skills, celebrate different cultures and create lasting memories. Here are just a few of the highlights from our Summer 2026 edition of The Daffodil.
Bringing joy through shared experiences
One of the biggest highlights of the past few months was welcoming Tickled Pink Productions to all three homes. Their lively pantomime performances brought laughter, music and plenty of audience participation, with residents, relatives and staff all joining in the fun.
These shared experiences create far more than an afternoon’s entertainment. Familiar songs, storytelling and live performances often spark conversation, encourage participation and provide opportunities for residents to enjoy meaningful moments together.
Throughout the year, residents have also enjoyed musical performances from Crescendo School of Music and Art, demonstrating once again how music has a wonderful way of bringing generations together.
Creativity that brings people together
Creative activities continue to play an important role across Springdene Care Homes.
Working alongside our Artist in Residence, Odile, residents have explored new techniques including lino printing and creating beautiful resin coasters using flowers carefully dried from our own gardens. Every piece has been completely unique, giving residents the opportunity to express themselves while learning new skills in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Perhaps most rewarding has been seeing residents who may previously have been hesitant to join activities becoming increasingly involved. Creative sessions often encourage conversation, confidence and new friendships, helping residents feel part of the community around them.
Celebrating cultures, stories and traditions
At Springdene, celebrating different cultures and traditions is an important part of life throughout the year.
Chinese New Year brought vibrant lion and dragon dances, martial arts demonstrations and delicious themed meals prepared by our catering teams. For many residents, it was an opportunity to experience something completely new while sharing stories and learning together.
Global Intergenerational Week offered another memorable experience, with residents taking part in a storytelling project based around Bob Dylan’s Man Gave Names To All The Animals. Each resident brought their own personality to the reading, creating a wonderful video celebrating shared stories across generations.
These occasions remind us that meaningful activities don’t need to be complicated. They simply need to bring people together.
Supporting our local community
Community has always been at the heart of Springdene Care Homes.
This year we’ve been proud to support charities including North London Hospice and RNLI Tower Bridge through fundraising events that brought together residents, families, staff and visitors.
Our Christmas Festival raised an incredible £1,269 for North London Hospice, helping to begin what we hope will become a long and valued partnership.
Springview’s ever-popular Fish & Chips Quiz Supper also proved another great success, raising £780 for RNLI Tower Bridge while providing an evening full of laughter, teamwork and friendly competition.
These events reflect the close relationships between our homes and the communities around Enfield, Muswell Hill and Hampstead.
Investing in our homes for the future
Alongside memorable events and activities, we’ve continued investing in our homes to ensure residents enjoy comfortable, welcoming surroundings both now and in the future.
Recent improvements include refurbished bedrooms, modern communal areas and exciting new spaces at Springview, including a library and cinema room designed to encourage relaxation, social interaction and shared experiences.
Springview has also recently installed solar panels as part of our long-term commitment to sustainability, helping us reduce environmental impact while supporting the future of our family-run care homes.
Thanking the people who make Springdene special
None of these moments would be possible without our dedicated teams.
Our annual Employee Appreciation Day was a chance to celebrate the compassion, professionalism and kindness shown by staff across Spring Lane Care Home, Spring Grove Care Home and Springview Care Home every single day.
Families often tell us it’s the warmth of our people that makes Springdene feel different, and we’re incredibly proud of the caring culture our teams create together.
